New Teapot

Did you get a new teapot?  What should you do next?

It is recommended that you rinse out the teapot, then boil your water and make a strong pot of tea. Let this pot sit overnight. This will season the teapot and create a better cup of tea.

Never use soap or detergent in your teapot, it will affect the taste of your tea. This will make your next pot taste soapy and not quite right.
If this happens then re-season the teapot again overnight.

If you feel you must wash your teapot, use a paste of baking soda and water.  This will remove the stains and not affect the taste of the tea.

However, I recommend you just rinse out the pot every time you use it.

Enjoy your favourite tea in your new teapot.

Making the perfect cup of tea.

I recommend you consider the following tips when making the perfect cup of tea.

Make sure you start with fresh cool water. This will allow the full flavour of the tea to come out. Filtered water is best.

Never reboil your water; this will make your tea taste flat.

Bring your water to a full boil for black, herbal, fruit or Roobios (red) tea.

For green and white tea let the water cool after bring to a full boil for a couple of minutes before pouring on the leaves. If the water is too hot it will burn the leaves and affect the taste.  There are some kettles on the market which will heat your water to just the right temperature for each tea type.

Steep your leaves for a couple of minutes and remove them. Over steeping will make your tea bitter.

Enjoy your perfect cup of tea.
